Ed and I arrived in San Fernando, CA Saturday evening and are being hosted  at a convent a few miles from the school. Sister Sara Goggin has been helpful in orienting us to the neighborhood and the school. Here are images from the hours we spent setting up the display.

David Lara, his wife "McCoi" and three young men whom David had taken to Tucson and who had all walked the migrant trails and visited shelters in MX, pitched in to help. They worked for hours unpacking, sorting and arranging the artifacts. Kindly, Don Levan, the director of worship at the High School, bought us all a pizza and we were able to sit and share stories about their experiences at the US-MX Border and the feelings elicited by handling the items.

Sharing the story of the migrant trail

The truck and trailer made it an easy drive, though a 12 hour drive.
We chose an area along the side of the Alumni Hall.
Ed worked on assembling the backdrops
Step by step the displays came together
The found children's items are always difficult to handle.
Slashed socks and a destroyed water bottle share space with images of blistered feet.
Hanging on a branch are bras women left in the desert....why leave such an intimate item, perhaps an indication of the violence that occurs.

I'm a mixed media artist who uses objects found in the desert to educate people about the suffering taking place on the Arizona-Mexico border.
